I hope you’re having a fun time with this or, at least, trying to find the fun in it! I know that not everyone’s brain is hardwired to search for opportunities to insert little moments of serendipity, but if we have little reminds to do small gestures of love for others who are so not expecting it, I feel like the world would be a little greater for a few people. What do you think?
In this SECOND week of the KINDNESS challenge, I want to share a difference experience with kindness. Before I go down that road, I DO want to share my KINDNESS CHALLENGE WEEK 1 experience was like. To be honest, I wasn’t even aware that I’d completed my own challenge until the person who was on the receiving end pointed it out to me. Here we go…the CrossFit world is just ending the 2017 Open workout, which was five weeks of intense workouts carried out by hundreds of thousands of people around the globe. I am a member of a CrossFit affiliate (gym) and participated in the #2017CrossFitOpen with my friends. During one of the workouts, my friend was getting stuck on a movement she is in the process of mastering. So, since WE are masters, I began to jump with her so that she could follow my rhythm. She caught on and continued to complete clusters of the movements before finishing WELL BEFORE the time cap. After we had laughed over our performances and set plans for our “Deadlift-Off” the next day, she looked at me and said, “Erika! You did it! Your Kindness Challenge! I needed you!” We always need each other and I’m so happy I was present enough to catch on.
We need different things at different times. During my own journey, I’ve needed different experts and different personalities. I’ve been really blessed to encounter just who I’ve needed at just the right times. The friends I made here have helped me feel more balanced and they’ve done that by simply encouraging to do more things I’m not used to doing. I say yes because of my curiosity and sometimes I feel nervous, but, overall, I feel lighter.
This week, I want to challenge you, whoever you are, to pay attention to your friends or family members, If you have the opportunity to teach them something new, do that. Show a friend a new trick or share a new read or share a great song or take someone to see a new band. New is always exciting and who better to introduce us to potential new interests than those we love?
Have a great week guys! Don’t forget to comment on this blog if you participate and be sure to share your experience with the rest of us! God bless you! -E
